Everything you need to know to give it with confidence, even if you have never tried it.
Whisked, not steeped.
01
You drink the whole leaf
Matcha is green tea leaves stone-ground into a fine powder. Instead of steeping and tossing the leaves, you whisk the powder into water or milk.
02
Harvest sets the grade
First harvest uses spring's youngest leaves, shade-grown and hand-picked: naturally sweet and smooth. Second harvest is bolder and nuttier, made to stand up to milk and recipes.
03
A different kind of caffeine
An Encha serving has about 60mg of caffeine plus 24mg of L-theanine. A cup of coffee has about 95mg of caffeine and no L-theanine.

Before you gift
Gifting questions, answered.
I don't know how they drink matcha. Which should I pick?
Think about how they take coffee or tea now. Straight and simple? Ceremonial Grade. Always a latte? Latte Grade. Always baking or blending? Barista Grade. Every grade is pure organic matcha, so they are free to experiment. Still unsure? Try the gift finder.
What exactly is included?
One resealable pouch of Encha matcha powder in the grade and size you choose. Bowls, whisks and milk shown in our photos are not included.
Do they need a bamboo whisk?
A whisk makes the smoothest, frothiest cup, and a frother or a blender works too. A spoon will do in a pinch, though it can leave a few clumps at the bottom.
How fast does it ship? Can I send it straight to them?
Standard shipping is free on U.S. orders and takes 3 to 7 business days. To send it directly, enter their address as the shipping address at checkout.
Should I choose subscribe or one-time purchase?
For a gift, choose One Time Purchase on the product page. Subscribe and save is for your own matcha: it saves 15%, and you can skip or edit deliveries anytime.
How should they store it?
In the fridge, or anywhere cool, dry and dark. It can be frozen too. After each use, press the zip seal closed all the way across.
What if it arrives damaged?
Email encha@encha.com within 7 days of delivery with a photo of the issue, the packing slip and your order number. Encha will replace the product or refund it.
